Okay everyone, now I'm looking to collecting any comic related films/cartoons on DVD so if you can think of any not listed here (I'll do the research to see if it's available) please do so. Thanks!

A movie was made based on THE PHANTOM comic strip. And I recently saw a bit of a tv movie (series?) based on NIGHTMAN.

Spider-Man is the best comic book movie ever made.

If you're looking for obscure comic book movies, you should try G-Men from Hell, based on some of the recurring characters who used to show up in Mike Allred's first anthology series. Gary Busey has a supporting role as a crazy, head-busting, gay cop. And Robert Goulet plays the devil. The DVD also includes a retrospective of Mike Allred's work with lots of pictures and info.

I just saw Bulletproof Monk, admittedly I've never read the comic but I really enjoyed it once they'd finished the cheesy opening segment.

I even thought the main young guy who was in those teen funny movies was actually OK in the end too.

I usually judge the movies just on how successful a movie they are, (or at least how much they appeal to me). I don't compare them to the comics because I don't expect them to be the same.

I really liked the X-Men movies, DareDevil, Spiderman, but I really disliked all of the Batman movies. I can't explain why, except that they bored me. I guess Bruce Wayne just doesn't do anything for me. [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img]

Spiderman was very well done. The final fight scene was a little overdone and I wasn't totally happy with the look of the Green Goblin, but I thought the film perfectly captured the way Spiderman is. That's what's important to me, that the heart of the comic and character is captured. That's why I liked X-Men (and X2 even better), the first 2 Superman's, and the first Batman (and the second only for Michelle Pfeiffer).

Haven't seen Daredevil yet. Or the Hulk, though I'm looking forward to that one.

Lord of the Rings: I don't know that I consider Tolkien a great writer or just one that left behind some great books. As hard as reading The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings was at times, there was something in the books that made me fall in love. The story underneath the heavy language still shines through and it is a wonderful story. I think the movies have done a fantastic job of recreating the story. In many ways, they've helped explain some of the confusing parts of the books to me.

As for obscure (and in this case very very bad) comic movies on DVD, see if the Captain America movie is out. The version I'm thinking of isn't the TV movie that came out long ago, but one made in the '90's. The film was so bad, it went straight to video. Have I mentioned how bad it is?

hi all! wow, i can't believe it's been this long since I asked for the info - it's been a hectic last couple of months for me. Neo, I didn't have anything specific in mind so anything goes.
Gem, thanks for the list - there are quite a few on there i had forgotten about. I did pick up a couple of these plus From Hell (based on the alan moore graphic novel) & the 80s dolph lundgren Punisher (which many hate but I think is passable).
Jones, i've never heard of the g-men from hell but I'll look for it...
Crazy, I vaguely remember Nightman but I do remember Sable. Anyone else remember that show? Based on Mike Grell's Jon Sable Freelance comic. If anyone has that on video or digital pass it along. [img]smile.gif[/img]
